Visited some relatives at the northeast of (real Macedonia) Greek Macedonia during the weekend. The villages were very near the Greek Bulgarian borders, it was almost 40 C and I can tell thats hot!
However hot it can be, people seem to be able to adjust though that can be really tough. Only water is available then everything is possible! For a couple of years ago when temperature reached 46C and the country was in flames (yeah, some fools like to set forest on fire as well!) a comment that rapidly was spred said:
How many greeks do you need for putting up with the heat this summer?
Only one is enough when fire travels rapidly trough the burned forest!
Greece as a Meditterenean country feels the luck of water every summer, there are islands during the hotest perod of the year where ships take in water in large containers! When debated minister of enviroment promised that LEADER projekt should be of great help for the years to come. Noone has seen any results up to now from the EU projekt that the minister was talking about.
Lets hope that lunatics who burn down our forests have been arrested, or at least that they are on vacation this summer. Lets hope that watersupplies are enough this year so that the Greek islands have enough water for the basic needs of the population.
Then everything is going to continue as if its a perfect world we live in...
because it is, isnt it?
